Your T.A.W.G. - how is it going?

Good morning... it's nine a.m. but most of you are still asleep because it's seven a.m. over in Malaysia. Just wondering how your time alone with God is progressing.

About two years ago, our church had a major emphasis on T.A.W.G. or time alone with God. I'm not the expert but a basic definition of T.A.W.G. would be that portion of time (hopefully the firstfruits of your time) which you set apart each day for reading God's word, praying, worshipping and taking time to listen to what God wants to speak to you about.

There are days when we are stressed out i.e. hard-pressed for time, brain not functioning anymore, blood pressure is over the top and confusion has set in. These are the days when it's hard to even think of T.A.W.G.

If you think of T.A.W.G. as a chore, it makes it harder to do. But if you think of T.A.W.G. like making a phone call to your loved ones like your spouse / fiance / girlfriend or boyfriend / maybe your mom.... then it becomes something that you obviously want to do.

T.A.W.G. is basically that. Keeping-in-touch and communicating with someone you love and who loves you very much - Your Creator... The Author and Perfector and Finisher of your faith.

I enjoy just blocking out the whole world and whatever I have to do, find a quiet moment and just tell God everything that's in my heart.

My T.A.W.G. style has varied over the years. When I was a teen, I enjoyed keeping journals, writing poems, short songs and even letters to myself, friends etc about my T.A.W.G. Then when I initially went to University, I enjoyed doing T.A.W.G. with my curious roommate taking a peek at what I was doing and later discussing stuff with her about certain decisions I believed God wanted me to take. When I was about to graduate, my T.A.W.G. was truly in my alone-zone because I had no more roommate. *Had my own room*

Now that I'm working... I feel like the world has suddenly gained weight... the workplace has developed a weight dimension, especially when it sits on me... burdens, responsibilities, politics and the usual nightmares have increased... And instead of starting with some schoolgirl 'Hi God!'... I start off almost everyday with a "God I can't do it on my own today... I need you to do it all for me..."

Whatever your style, however you do it... God is waiting for you everyday to tell you things, secrets, treasures...
